Abstract


PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT OF VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

The study aims to determine the level of perceived organizational commitment of the vocational high school teachers working in the vocational high schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education in the district of Bağcılar, Istanbul and whether such perception varies depending on different variables (such as gender, age, marital status, field of study, seniority and seniority levels in their respective schools). The study was designed using survey model. The study was conducted on 307 teachers working at vocational high schools in the districts of Bagcilar, Istanbul in the school year of 2014-2015. The study used, as data collection tool, “Scale of Organizational Commitment” of 18 statements as designed by Meyer, Allen and Smith (1993), and translated and adapted into Turkish by Sarıdede (2003) to determine the level of organizational commitment. The results of the study are as follows: it was determined that the perceptions of the vocational high school teachers about the organizational commitment were high. According to the variables of gender, age, marital status, field of study, seniority and seniority levels in their respective school, the perception of the organizational commitment of the vocational high school teachers did not show any significant difference.
