Abstract


EVALUATING THE TEACHER CANDIDATES’ VIEWS ON THEIR OWN DIGITAL READING, WRITING AND PRESENTATION SKILLS

Nowadays, because of globalization, technological developments and also the effects of the century of knowledge, digital writing and reading became essential. The aim of this study, was to determine teacher candidates’ level of digital reading, writing and presentation skills by the help of open-ended questions, observations and homeworks and to develop new suggestions that contribute to this area. Descriptive methods which are also the part of qualitative methods were used in this research. The data were collected by interviews and observations. 6 preschool teacher candidates and 6 primary teacher candidates participated in this research. This study was composed of open-ended questions, observations, and also the teacher candidates’ homeworks. Data regarding the difficulties that teacher candidates experienced while they interpreted, expressed, exemplified when they read digitally and when they expressed their own ideas, were collected as the result of this research. After evaluating the data, giving digital reading and writing homeworks about various subjects, directing and motivating the teacher candidates towards digital reading and writing were proposed to develop their digital reading and writing skills.
